"Worth It": Coming March 2025!

I’m so excited to announce that my next non-fiction book for teenagers will be released in March 2025! It’s called Worth It: Following Jesus When Life Feels Complicated, and it’s available for preorder now!

Here’s the blurb:

“It’s a complicated time to be a young person: navigating your own problems, pressures, and worries—and trying to help your friends through theirs—in a world that feels increasingly outraged and uncertain.

In the face of all that, can you actually trust Jesus to make a difference? In an era where taking Jesus seriously can feel isolating and controversial, it can be easy to wonder if it’s worth it.

Chris Morphew wants to show you why it absolutely is—why, no matter how good you already think the good news of Jesus is, it’s better—and how, if you stick with Jesus, he’ll help you navigate the challenges and uncertainties of life in a way that nothing and no one else can.

I put everything I had into this one. Hope you love it!

The Big Questions Complete Collection

The Big Questions series is now available in a shiny box-set edition, featuring all six books:

  • Why Does God Let Bad Things Happen?

  • How Can I Feel Closer to God?

  • What Happens When We Die?

  • How Do We Know That Christianity Is Really True?

  • How Can I Be Sure What's Right and Wrong?

  • Who Am I and Why Do I Matter?

Hope you love it! Here’s what my publisher says about it:

“Big Questions is a series of fun and fast-paced books walking kids aged 9-13 through what the Bible says about life, helping them to grow in confident and considered faith.

With relatable stories, engaging Bible teaching and illustrative doodles at the start of each chapter, these apologetics books are great for kids, tweens or teens who have no church background, as well as for believers looking to deepen the foundations of their faith.”

"How Can I Be Sure What's Right and Wrong?" Out Now!

A belated heads-up that the sixth (and possibly final?) book in the Big Questions series is out now! It’s called “How Can I Be Sure What’s Right and Wrong?” and you can read the first chapter for free here.

Hope you love it! Here’s what my publisher says about it:

“How can I be sure what's right and wrong? Is it all just a matter of opinion? Do we really need God to tell us how to be good people, or can we just figure it out for ourselves? What about situations where there is no one right answer, or when we disagree with others about what the best thing to do is?

In this fun and fast-paced book, Christian Studies teacher and school chaplain Chris Morphew walks 9-13-year-olds through various questions about morality. He makes the case that there is such a thing as right and wrong, and that we need to go to God for solid and satisfying answers.”

"How Can I Feel Closer to God?" Out This Week!

My new book releases this week! Its called “How Can I Feel Closer to God?” and it’s all about taking the leap from knowing about Jesus to actually getting to know Jesus.

You can read the first chapter for free here.

And if you’d like to pick up the rest of the book, you can do so here or here or here, or wherever you buy books!

Hope you love it! Here’s what my publisher says about it:

“Sooner or later, kids ask big questions about themselves and their faith: If God is real, why doesn’t he feel real? How can I make him seem less far away? What does a relationship with Jesus actually look like? What about when going to church or reading the Bible just feels boring and pointless? Christian Studies teacher and school chaplain Chris Morphew has been answering big questions from kids for over a decade. In this fun and fast-paced book, he shows children how to grow in their relationship with God through the ordinary yet powerful habits of everyday discipleship: prayer, Bible reading, church community, rest and simplicity. Lively stories and illustrations make this book easy for 9-13s to engage with. Readers will be helped to develop a vibrant, living and life-altering faith of their own as they learn to walk with Jesus day by day.”

Chris and Tom's Youth Group Podcast!

My friend Tom French and I have started a new podcast where we catch up each week and talk about how our youth groups went last Friday.

I am loving the regular opportunity to compare notes and share ideas with another youth leader. If you’re in some kind of youth ministry, you might enjoy listening in too!

Chris and Tom’s Youth Group Podcast is available on every podcast platform I’ve heard of and (thanks to Tom) a bunch I haven’t. I hope you love it!

"How Can I Feel Closer To God?" Out March 2023!

The fifth book in the Big Questions series, How Can I Feel Closer to God?, releases in March 2023 and is available for pre-order now from Amazon, Book Depository, The Good Book Company, or your local bookseller!

Here’s the blurb:

If God is real, why doesn't he feel real? It's one thing to believe that Christianity is true in your head; it's another thing to live like it's true in real life. What does a relationship with Jesus actually look like? What about when going to church or reading the Bible feel like hard work, or just a bit boring? If God wants to be close to us, why does he often seem so far away?

Big questions deserve good answers. In this book, Chris Morphew shows you how to grow your friendship with Jesus through some simple yet powerful habits. Discover how to experience more of Jesus' love, joy, peace and freedom as he transforms you from the inside out.

Thanks as always to Emma for the illustrations, and to the amazing team at TGBC for letting me keep doing this!

If you’re a follower of Jesus already, I hope How Can I Feel Closer to God? helps you to draw closer to him, and to experience more of his great love for you. And if you’re not yet a follower of Jesus, I hope this book helps you along as you explore what it might mean to get to know him better.

PS - If you’d like a sneak preview, you can read the first chapter online here.

“Who Am I And Why Do I Matter?” selected as Christianity Today’s Young Adult Book of the year

I’m excited to share that Who Am I and Why Do I Matter? has been chosen as the Young Adult Book of the Year as part of Christianity Today’s 2023 Book Awards:

In the latest installment in his Big Questions series, Morphew asks—and answers—what are perhaps the primary questions adolescents wrestle with: Who am I? Why do I matter? Relatable and accessible, the book never talks down to its young readers. Rather, their concerns are taken seriously, whether fitting in with friends, grappling with social media, or simply wondering if they can be themselves without social repercussions. Morphew takes readers back to Scripture, offering examples from the Bible and plenty of reminders that we are made in God’s image, that we have worth based on that simple fact, and that we are called to follow Christ. Even better, he offers the hope of the gospel, so that past mistakes don’t define current self-worth or the future.

I reckon the team at CT are some of the best in the world at what they do, and it’s a massive honour to find myself on the list alongside so many other incredible books and authors!
